The PADI Advanced Open Water course is all about diving! 5 dives make up the program - giving you additional experience in a variety of diving environments. The Advanced Course provides divers with an opportunity to explore special diving interest by sampling portions of 5 different PADI specialty courses. Because divers look for convenience and flexibility in continuing their education, the PADI Advanced Course allows divers to choose the dives that interest them
All divers will make the Deep Dive (between 60 and 100 feet) and the Navigation Dive.
The remaining 3 dives are your choice:
Deep Dive Diver (required)
Navigation Diver (required)
Peak Performance Buoyancy Diver
Search & Recovery Diver
All 5 dives count towards the specialty. For example, there are 4 dives in the PADI Deep Diver specialty. You will have already done the first dive, leaving only 3 more for the specialty certification. Some dive shops require an advanced certification on their boat dives when diving such places as the USS Oriskany or dives that to take you deeper than the PADI Open Water Diver depth limits.
